For this final project, I wanted to create a piece that expressed empathy towards loved ones who have lost someone because of COVID-19. To represent that idea, I made a portrait of a masked anonymous figure shedding tears of blood as opposed to real tears to add a darker element and to show how seriously this virus should be taken. My adding a quote by John Steinbeck, "You can only understand people if you feel them in yourself." reinforces what I want to express. It adds that finishing touch to the portrait and completes my thoughts on this painful subject.
